Binding

So in between my studying, I enjoy taking a break and moving around.  It calms me down and lets my mind rest for a bit.  One thing I enjoy doing is going to the gym and lifting weights.  I literally get all the stress out on the weights and it helps me relax to the point where I don't worry so much about whether or not I'm going to do bad on my upcoming finals.
Well the problem with not moving around for hours at a time is that you haven't really used those muscles in a while, and to be more specific, its usually the leg muscles that one doesn't use.  Usually during long study sessions, or homework sessions, I tend to use my hands more and move my back around than I do my legs.  One leg falls asleep from not moving around too much and then the other falls asleep because of me having placed it in an awkward position.
Today was my leg day for my workout and like most other times I workout, I didn't stretch.  I follow a four day split for my workouts which allows me to get every muscle group working throughout the week without over training any specific muscle group and today just happened to my the dreaded leg and abdominal day.  Towards the end of my workout I was already tired, sore, and beat up and decided to end the workout with Romanian deadlifts to really get to my hamstrings.  I finished up and on my way towards the locker room, I felt the cramp start coming on.  It felt like the entire back of my leg started to bind and all i could do was limp towards the locker room.  On my way to the locker room though, the pain just kept coming and coming in waves.  Just when i thought it was going away, it would starting binding again and hurting.
To calm it down I decided to go into the sauna to ease myself to be able to stretch it out again.  I like using ice or something that would numb the pain but in my experience, the sauna has helped me out quite a bit when it comes to binding in other parts of the body. After about 5 minutes of it not hurting, I manned up and started stretching it out.  I pretty much learned my lesson after that.
For now though, I'm going to follow this series of stretches I found on a youtube video before my next leg workout day to hopefully stop myself from looking like a fool.  here is the video I found:

  6. Usually the sauna works for me. I also find that stretching post-workout helps me a lot, and helps me with my flexibility.
