Plane Tickets

Why is it that when someone tries to buy a plane ticket, the price just doesn't seem reasonable?  It seems like during other dates the prices just seem cheaper or at the very least closer to what one might actually be willing to pay for.  It is almost like it is really unpredictable for someone to find out when plane tickets are going to rise in price making you almost regret wanting to travel or lower in price making it seem like traveling is the best thing to do.  Then once someone does find a cheap ticket, they realize that the price on the airlines website isn't really the true price of the ticket.  One has to take on taxes for the ticket and still add fees to it.  Or if someone goes to an agency they might not be able to really see a visual of what is available and what isn't.
Today:
My day started off fine, just like any other day really, when I get a call from my mother telling me that my grandfather(her father) is sick and isn't doing well.   She wants me to find plane tickets so we can go visit him in Mexico and to help out if we can.  This is going to slow down my job hunting for now and empty my bank account more but its necessary to help out the family when its in need.  I started off by searching the regular online websites for tickets but it turns out most websites wont include taxes on the prices they show.  That just really misguides people when they go to buy plane tickets since you have to basically checkout before they show you the real price
I found out that there is this website hosted by Microsoft's BING service.  It is Bing's Travel service that really helped me out today.  The search functions are really easy to use since you never really leave Bing's search engine and that makes looking up flights really fast.  Also changing settings on the search was easier than using the other websites I've used in the past.  The prices indicated also include taxes on the tickets and includes other fees so they display true prices.  It made getting the tickets so much easier for me so I didn't even have to go to an agency to help out this time and got some cheap tickets.

Beyond:
Well that is what I had to deal with today.  Finding out what days to travel, finding arangements for my dog and cat, an figuring out whether my younger brother will end up going.  Along with that, I basically spent the day on craigslist looking for jobs and responding to posts today.  Turns out its just really boring searching through for jobs all day.
Tomorrow, I'll be posting the first "Workout Wednesday" post.  Should be much more interesting than todays post.  What type of workouts are you guys interested on reading on?

  5. Hmmm... That is really weird. You know what i noticed? The tickets are either really cheap like south west is like maybe 150 or 200 a flight and everyone else charges like 1000 dollars for the same flight! Its really weird...

  8. Sometimes you get lucky and the tickets are much cheaper, but that tends to only be within certain dates and can restrict when you want to go.

  13. I hate flying. The crazy security, the awful handling of your luggage, the prices, the germs of being in a hot-boxed plane with random people, the sloppy boarding, just everything about it... ugh. I always opt to drive is possible.

  17. I have heard that you can sometimes get a ticket to where you want to go with your destination being the connection, then you just only take carry on and don't continue your flight!

  18. Hope everything turns out all right, losing family members really sucks man. At least you have time to say your goodbyes though, it's worse when they suddenly go and you regret not saying I love you that one last time.

  19. I don't think airlines make any money, in fact from what I hear they lose so much that there may not be a market for it some day. The concord is gone because even charging $6000 a seat they were losing money.

  22. buying in advance can really save you a lot of money, I feel like prices can be halved if bought long enough in advance! especially with buses, but probably with planes somewhat as well.

  23. I hate the flying experience. I can't stand how TSA treats you as innocent until proven guilty and doesn't profile because they might hurt someone's feelings.

  24. There is probably some murphy law about plane tickets prices
