Bottle Service

Last Night:
Last night I went out to one of my friends shows which he does weekly at a small Club in Santa Rosa.  He is a DJ who spins at Club Rapture and the creator of Dance.Or.Die productions.  This club in Santa Rosa tries to emulate a San Francisco dance club and does a pretty decent job of doing it.  It has a dance area with a stage for performances which vary from hip hop performances to DJs spinning.  The club also has a bar area which is separated for nights when events are 18+.  Overall it was a good experience but it brought up a question I always had every time I hear it at a club.  Why is bottle service at a club so damn expensive?

All it is, is a bottle of alcohol which one can easily purchase at a super market, corner store, or a liquor store for around $50 dollars max, yet when you are at a club, it costs hundreds of dollars more!  For example, at club rapture last night, a bottle of grey goose cost $300.  They were kind enough to throw in the mixers/chasers/ice for free though but honestly that doesn't really make up for the price difference.  $300 is actually kind of cheap for bottle service since I have been to clubs in San Francisco where the bottles go for $500 and $600 plus additional charges for the booth and for mixers.  Most people opt to get drunk before hitting the clubs in their cars or on the way to the clubs instead of even buying a drink at a club let alone an entire bottle there.
What does kind of make it worth it is the "prestige" that comes with getting bottle service.  Trust me when I say that when someone orders a bottle at a club, girls immediately start surrounding you or your booth trying to get a free drink.  All of a sudden, someone becomes much more cooler once they get bottle service.  Hell, even the bouncers start acting friendlier towards you, yet a minute ago they were harassing you outside of the club telling you to hurry up and pull your I.D. card out.  You feel like a top dog with the bottle service and some people are just willing to pay for this to have people seem to look up to them.
I don't go for the bottle service ever since I like keeping money in my pockets at all times.  I just don't have the financial security for getting an expensive bottle at a club where I could just as easily get drunk outside of the club for a fraction of the price.  It does feel nice though when someone you know does get it though and invites you to partake in their booth for bottle service.

Today:
I found out that I couldn't get a ticket to go to Mexico after all in time to go without having to borrow money from my mother so it looks like I will be staying here instead.  I wanted to go see my grandfather in case his health gets more complicated but I am glad my mother will go get to see him with my younger brother.  I instead, get to take care of her house and water the plants while she is gone.  I've helped my mother get everything together for her trip since she is leaving tomorrow with my younger brother.
Traveling is always hectic when it comes to getting prepared.  In the back of your mind you always feel like you are going to forget something.  And that feeling doesn't go away until you have finally left and forgotten all about it or when you realized that you actually did forget something.  My mother is stressed thinking of what she is either forgetting to put in her suitcase or forgetting to tell me something regarding taking care of the house.  I'm just glad now that I don't have to go through that and the stress of traveling.  At least something good came out of not going.

Beyond:
I've updated the blog a bit and changed its theme a bit more.  I know most wont really notice it since it is minor changes to the theme but it did change a bit.  I like a more simplistic look to my blog since that is how I try to live my life.  I don't like it to be too cluttered, too much stuff in the way, or too obnoxious.  I'm still looking for the right setting for my blog but for now I am happy with the way it looks.  Maybe instead of having the about me at the top I will add a tab titled "about" so it doesn't always show up on every post.

What is the most you guys have paid for to get a drink at a bar/club/restaurant before?  I know I have spent far too much money at the bars but to be honest the most expensive beverage I have gotten for myself is a $12 drink on someones birthday for them.  It all ends up adding up at the end of the day though.  I would also like to hear some of the travel nightmares you guys have had.  For example, forgetting something important behind or not telling someone to look out for something.  I forgot to pack dry face lotion one time and since my face is very sensitive to change in the air, I start to dry up quick if I don't use my face lotion which I can't really find any where else but online.

  2. Bottle service is just to get attention, anyone in there right, who cares about there money, will order drinks or buy bottles for home consumtion, either way it's far cheaper then three bills for a bottle of GG, it's just the status, the same guy pulled up in his porsche on lease. $15 for a car bomb, and that was testing me.

  3. I don't go out that often and when I do I stay away from the expensive places. Most I have spent was 9+ on a jagerbomb - so not so bad, but definitely pricey.

I know I was thinking about that regardless if I'm close to them or not, but I wish they are doing well and that you do get to go sometime.

    Good luck man.
